Christa is a
natural
born beader. She grew
up learning
knitting, crochet and kloppelspitzen at her Oma's knee. Kloppelspitzen is bobbin lace
making. Christa
studied studio art
at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, then silkscreening and lithography at
SUNY at Stony Brook. Years
later
she resumed her lace interest and joined the New England Lace Group
(NELG.) She began
working in
kloppelspitzen again using antique German hooded bobbins that had been in her
family for several generations.
After moving to East
Chatham in 2002, Christa began incorporating
beading into her lace work.
Christa's beadwork
can be found at Eclipse in Rhinebeck, Ananda's Bliss
in Hudson, Eye Center in Valatie and Great Barrington and her custom table
linen's are available at Classic Country in East Chatham. Contact: 518.392.8686 clfniver@aol.com
