Artist Bio: Beverly
Ruth Bader was born in the Bronx, New York in 1938. She graduated
from Hunter College in Manhattan, where she studied literature and psychology, in 1958. While
a student at Hunter, she also
studied at The Art Students League during many of her college years. She married the psychologist Lawrence
Bader, and with him moved to Massachusetts where she received a doctorate in
psychology. While a practicing psychologist, she continued to paint
throughout, and studied at The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA, The DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA,
The New Art Center in Newton, MA, and took many master painting workshops in
Kennebunk, ME, where she also showed and sold her paintings in various Maine
galleries. Most recently, she has shown at The Watkins Gallery in Northampton,
The Train Station Gallery in West Stockbridge, and The Columbia Council on the
Arts Gallery, as well as in other public and private shows. Beverly Ruth Bader paints
both from her perceptions of reality and
from her imagination. Her paintings express her love of nature. For her, the act of painting is an
intense creative exploration. Her
oil paintings have many layers
of paint, each layer thinly painted so
that the under layers can peek through. Her landscapes capture her excitement of colors and the magic of nature.
